Shrimathi Devkunvar Nanalal Bhatt Vaishnav College for Women was established in 1968 with generous contributions from Shri Nanalal Bhatt (10 acres of land) and Cork Industries Charities Trust (₹6 lakhs). Named after Smt. Devkunvar, it was the first women’s college in the then Kancheepuram District, Tamil Nadu.
The institution is led by Chairperson Smt. Mamta D. Bhatt, Secretary Shri Chandrakant M. Tolia, and Joint Secretary (Academics) Shri Nimish C. Tolia, whose visionary leadership continues to guide the college’s growth.
Affiliated with the University of Madras since inception and accredited with an A+ grade by NAAC, the college gained autonomous status in 2006 and is also listed in the NIRF rankings.
With 7,000+ students, 337 faculty members, and a wide range of undergraduate, postgraduate, and M.Phil. programmes, the college is a hub for women’s higher education. Nine departments are recognized as Research Departments, supported by over 50 funded projects and 100+ annual publications in reputed journals.
